STARS
letter to families
.....St.
Luke’s Day School & Kindergarten is proud to announce that it
has achieved a Star One in Keystone STARS. Keystone STARS is Pennsylvania’s
voluntary program for improving the quality of child care.
.....Through
Keystone STARS, a child care provider works to increase its standard of
care above the state’s
minimum health and safety licensing regulations. Research shows that quality
child care increases a child’s
learning skills and school readiness level.
.....St.
Luke’s Day School & Kindergarten goal is to provide the best
child care possible, and Keystone STARS provides Standards, Training,
Assistance, Resources, and Supports (STARS) to help us meet this goal.
.....STARS
establishes a quality rating system beginning with the Start with Stars
level, an progresses from a STAR One to a STAR Four designation. Each
STAR designation has it’s own research-based performance standards
in three areas: staff education, the learning environment, and administration.
.....As
we move from Start with Stars up to a Star Four, the standards in these
three areas increase. A STAR Four designation is similar to meeting accreditation
standards sat by the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC).
About St. Luke’s
Day School & Kindergarten
.....St.
Luke’s Day School & Kindergarten opened in 1973 to provide quality
child care to working families in the Northeast. We operate as a non-profit,
non-sectarian organization, and enroll without regard to creed, national
origin, race, religious preference or sex. We provide a fun, dafe, academic
program for children ages three to five.
.....We
began the Start with Stars in the Spring of 2005, and quickly received
our Star One designation. We are currently working on our Star Two designation,
but have stalled a bit in order to receive a second Star One Fiscal Grant.
